INSTRUCTIONS – Situational Judgment Test
35 minutes - 40 total questions, 20 questions (with 2 answers each)
This section of the practice FSOT measures your ability to use judgment in various situations that you might encounter on the job. The questions ask about “situational judgment,” meaning they ask what you should do in various situations. You will be presented with scenarios and several alternative courses of action. Each scenario and set of options is presented twice. The first time, you are to indicate the BEST action. The second time, you are to indicate the WORST action. There may not be a single ideal answer, and you must use your judgment to select from among the alternatives offered. Knowledge about the State Department's policies, procedures, or organizational culture is NOT required to answer these questions.
You may change your answer by selecting a different option. There is no penalty for guessing, so you should try to answer every question.
You can scroll back and forward through the questions in this section by clicking the Previous and Next buttons at the bottom of each page.

This part of the exam must be completed in 35 minutes.
