Does anyone know if because of the pandemic the time on the register without expiring has extended? are we given any extra time in the register due to how the pandemic has affected the hiring process, or the clock still ticking as if nothing is happening for those of us waiting in the register?

Clock is still ticking. No class scheduled for 2021. If you have less than a year on the register, your candidacy will die before you have a shot. The conversation in the department now is literally about just letting this program die quietly.

DownAndOut, are you a decision-maker in the Department of State? Because it seems to me that you are very negative & very rude, and you do not necessarily have all the answers. I know a senior State Department official who says the program will eventually continue. Consulates and Embassies will need to open again for nonimmigrant visas, and more, once COVID restrictions are lifted.
