OA Passer
GuestMar 4, 2017 at 11:34 amPost count: 4901Just going to throw it out there, I know the green check mark doesn’t give classes sizes, hiring numbers, or info on scores. But curiosity is getting the better of me so anyone who has personal knowledge or experience as of late on this subject would be appreciated.
I just passed the OA last week for the mgmt cone and had a score of 5.5. (I am going to try and take the spanish test to raise that a little bit too but still haven’t done it yet) I am not on the register yet but I already have security and med clearances for a specialist position so hopefully it will move along faster because of that. On the shadow register it looks like a 5.5 put another person at about 21 out of 56 on the register.
So, my question is, has anyone with a 5.5 or there abouts/lower score been given a A 100 invite lately for the mgmt cone and if so, how many mgmt cone people are/were in your given class (so how many do they hire at a time and I know the class size varies by need). If a 5.5 doesn’t hack it, what was the lowest score you know of? Just trying to get a feel of what is out there and possible. Should I have decent hopes with that score in that cone or should I plan on probably timing off the register?
You’ll be okay

It’s really hard to try to piece together who is what in each class. Most people don’t sit and tally how many in each cone and take a poll of who had what OA score. It’s one of those things that’s really important at the time, but as soon as you get in, you forget it.
Anything is possible, but it’s really best to apply and then forget you did.

There’s a “shadow register” there populated by those in the group who are on the register and willing to share their scores and rankings, and some interesting estimates based on cone of how likely you are to get an invite to A-100. Of course, factors like a hiring freeze and frequently shifting hiring projections from HR mean those estimates should be taken with many grains of salt. But they can still give you some peace of mind if you’re just looking to calibrate your optimism appropriately 🙂 Good luck!

I have a good job and would be fine career wise and financially if State didn’t work out. But I have been trying to pass for 7 years now (passed the FSOT 7 times and been to the OA two times before but just barely passed this time) so now that I have finally passed it would be nice to look forward to the future a little bit. I have been applying and forgetting about this for 7 years, and now that I actually passed I can’t help but mull this over in my mind on occasion.
Obviously I won’t quit my job or plan on moving until the A 100 invite (and even then, with the last march debacle I probably won’t give notice until the movers show up at my house) and I have looked at the shadow register, but just knowing that a 5.5 in my cone can make it at least lets me dream a little bit.
You’ll be okay
GuestMar 6, 2017 at 6:58 pmPost count: 4901One more data point about my 5.5 score is that it took me five months to get an invite. It was of course peculiar to this year, the current needs of the Service, etc., etc.,
Of note also is that there are reports of some Management track GSO slots getting offered right out of A-100 in the past. In fact, there is one expected to go on the bid list for a spot in Zimbabwe, for the March class.
