Just took the practice test on the website. I had a quick question, it gave me the percentage I would likely pass as the results. Does anyone know what this is based on? After reviewing my answers I calculated my number of correct answers and thought I did decently but the percentage of passing put it much lower.

My assumption is the pass percentage is based on what the average test passers get, or the average score individuals get who are in the “passing” group get, and not necessarily based on an actual percentage correct/wrong. And if this is the case does anyone know the ballpark for what this group gets (like 80% correct depending on the people and the difficulty of the test in that given year)?

Any light on this would be great.

    Thanks

    Matt

P.S. practice test still had me passing, but only by a small margin.

Greetings! I scored well on both the English Expression and Situational Judgement sections, but poorly on Job Knowledge. Can anyone recommend best books, study guides, coarses, resources to improve in that area?

    Hi, Sean,
Thanks for your interest in serving with us. The Foreign Service Officer Test Information Guide, available from our site’s Downloads center, includes examples of readings that may help with job knowledge. Our DOSCareers App includes sample questions from prior FSOT’s. And on our site’s Foreign Service Officer Selection Process page, the pull-down list below the graphic, under Step 3, Take the FSOT, open the “What to expect during the FSOT” drop-down for more suggestions.
    Best regards.
