HelloIHaveAQuestion
GuestFeb 21, 2017 at 1:59 pmPost count: 4901Hello, I am a Pathways intern at the Department of Homeland Security and intend on applying for the Foreign Service General Services Officer position (Announcement #GSO-2017-0002) at the State Department. I would just like to ask if the hiring freeze affects applicants such as myself, and if this position would be filled despite the freeze?
In addition, I understand that if the State Department Suitability Review Panel denies an applicant in the last two years, he or she cannot reapply. I applied for the Foreign Service Office Management Specialist position last October and was unqualified—am I therefore allowed to apply to this different position at the Department of State?

If you were denied by the Suitability Review Panel (which happens after you go through the security clearance process) that would be a 2 year hold.
Simply not being found qualified for the OMS position would not.
