I have a question regarding when I can add my 10-point veterans preference to my register score.
I am currently active duty military but will be separating in the near future. I am also currently on a Foreign Service register.
I have a pending VA-disability rating that qualifies me for 10-point preference, but I will not get the final rating until after my date of separation (after my DD-214 is issued...or perhaps several months after that). I am looking for information on how I can get those points added to my register score before I separate from the military, given that I have a firm date of separation and a pending VA disability rating.
I was told by the VA representative that it might be possible for me to submit my pre-discharge compensation claim application paperwork (VA 21-526c) that shows the VA will be awarding me the necessary disability rating (ie, at least 10%). Is this correct?
