Hello,

I was filling out the application for spring and selected a bureau that also had international posts. However, later on in the application it says, "Please indicate the location/country you are interested in as your first choice," but gives DC as the only option. I am going to mention in the statement of interest that I would like a post abroad but would this restrict my application to those station in the US/DC?

Please send your question to careers@state.gov, and be sure to indicate the Bureau/post you are interested in that does not allow you to select a specific post. I will then forward it to the Student Programas Branch and they will check on it and reply directly.

If you are referring to the EAP Bureau, that Bureau does not offer spring student internships abroad. EAP usually does not offer fall student internships abroad, either.

INR usually offers student internships in the US spring, summer and fall.

Also, if EAP doesn't offer positions abroad, the student brochure needs to be updated. It explicitly says that internships are available abroad at most U.S. embassies and consulates.

While EAP offers internships abroad, the availability for each season can vary. For example, EAP does not offer internships abroad for spring of 2013.
