Hi,
I just got my nomination letter in the mail and am very honored to be a primary candidate. However, I did apply for a paid internship and the letter states that my position will be unpaid. Is there any chance of the position changing into a paid position or is there anyone I can speak with to talk about the options. I very much want to accept the position for the summer but it will be quite difficult without any financial assistance, especially with the airfare to get to country and so on. I'm just checking to get an idea about the possibilities. Thank you.

There are a very limited number of paid internships, so not everyone who applied for one will receive a paid internship. If additional paid internship funds later become available, some applicants who applied for a paid internship, but did not originally receive one, may be contacted.
