I need clarification on what the DOS sees as an accredited school.

Maybe a few examples would work.

I am at an Australian Uni that takes exchange students from the USA from many universities. i.e. Colorado State, NYU, Uni of Georgia. The coursework that they do here is equivalent to the coursework in the states and thus transferrable.

I am doing a full time Masters program in Int'l Relations at the Australian University.

Will the DOS accept this degree as an accredited degree?

DOE does not have information on foreign accredited institutions. The institution is Title IV eligible and the masters program is funded completely by US originated federal loans.

Thanks,

I checked with the Student Programs Branch, and they advise that you are eligible to apply.

Thank you. Can you confirm with the student programs dept. that the University I am attending will be accepted. It is Macquarie University in Sydney Australia.

Thanks,

Per our previous response, based on the information you provided in your first posting, the Student Programs Branch advises that you are eligible to apply. There is a good deal of information on overseas universities/accreditation in the US on the Internet.

Thank you for responding and quelling my fears of possibly wasting precious student loans.

All the best,
