Hello

My wife and I are both interested in a career with the foreign service. How does this typically work? Are we able to both work in the same post? Is this a common practice in the foreign service?

Thank you for your interest in the Foreign Service.

The Department of State has a growing number of "tandem couples." If both you and your spouse were to become members of the Foreign Service, you could request to be considered a tandem couple.  The Department of State tries to assign tandem couples to the same locations, and it works out in many instances, but it is not always possible.  Tandem couples must be worldwide available, the same as other members of the Foreign Service.
