The language bonus points policy for Generalist (FSO) candidates has been posted in the Selection Process Foreign Languages section of the website. It goes into effect beginning with the June 2012 FSOT cohort.

I will take the FSOT this coming FRI and I do speak one of the languages listed in the E-mail that was sent to me the other day to inform candidates about this changes but if you do speak let say three more languages are they gonna give you a bonus for all of them,

I took before the test and I failed on my English assay since English wasn't my first language are they taking consideration that some candidates for these position aren't very proficient in English

thanks

You may claim points in only one language but may test in a second language if that language garners more points.

A good command of the English language is a requirement for our Foreign Service positions.

Does that mean that if I take the Portuguese test and pass it, I can then take the Arabic test, and no matter what happens with Arabic, I'm guaranteed at least the points from my Portuguese test?

Thanks.

Will it count against me if I said on my application that I knew some Russian, because I expected to be speaking it by the time of my oral assessment, but it turns out I will not be? I wanted to edit the application and take Russian off... but I see editing is not possible.
Thanks

Your inability to speak Russian at the desired level will have no impact on the selection process. If you are at the QEP level, burnish your positive credentials; if you are at the Oral Assessment level, make sure you link your experience to the qualities that the Foreign Service is seeking. real
