Currently, I have a conditional offer of employment for a Foreign Services Officer position. I am in the process of the medical exam and background investigation. I currently own a residence and was interested in knowing if the State Department assists with disposition of properties, assuming a full offer is eventually extended. Please advise.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Hi, Paul.
For Foreign Service positions, the Department of State does not assist with the disposition of residences/property.

FYI, many of us in the Foreign Service have homes in the US that we rent out while we are overseas or away. Others keep their homes and do not rent them out in order to visit them during home leave and other vacation time. I also know other people who sell their homes when they get in the Foreign Service. It is really a matter of personal preference and the housing market, among other factors.
