I moved to the US from China when I was 16 years old. I became an American citizen when I was 17. Am I eligible to join the Foreign Service? Would I pass the background security check?
Thank you.

The only requirements for becoming a Foreign Service Generalist are that you are an American citizen, are between 21 and 59 years of age when you submit your registration, and are worldwide available. Assuming you meet both those criteria, you are qualified.

As for the security clearance; each candidacy is different. There is no way we can tell if your clearance will be granted in a certain amount of time or at all.
