Hi,
I have a question in regards to the education requirements to become a Foreign Service Officer. I currently have a BA degree in English and Psychology and a Diploma in Paralegal Studies. I was in law school, but only completed a 1 1/2 years. Do I have to obtain a graduate degree in International Relations to make me a more attractive candidate? If the answer is yes, does such degree have to be from an APSIA member school? Thank you for your time.

There are no specific educational requirements to become an FSO. Most successful applicants do have an undergraduate degree, and many have advanced degrees, but there is no requirement. We also have successful applicants who do not have a degree. We do not make specific recommendations in regard to pursuing onward studies. Rather, we recommend that individuals considering onward studies choose studies that are of interest to them--studies that will serve them well should they not be appointed to the Foreign Service.
