HR Officer/Recruiter: I like to join Foreign Service as a FSO my qualification is B.A. in Political Science & Int’l Relations and have 29 years of work experience on mid to senior level positions in CONUS/OCONUS. I do speak, read and write several critical need languages. I already have an active TS/SSBI clearance with DoD. I do have couple of questions to ask (1) Does DoS has reciprocity with DoD? (2) In your opinion will my qualification/experience be suitable for FSO? Thanks

Hi, Johnny,
Thanks for your interest in a Foreign Service Officer position. There are no specific educational or work experience requirements to become a Foreign Service Officer. However, your work background and foreign language proficiency may make you an attractive candidate.
If your TS clearance was granted by another agency (such as DOD), we'll need to verify the duration and level of clearance to determine if we need to update the background investigation and issue our own clearance.
